I suspect a lot of people here will read this and think “web3 solves this.” But the problem isn’t one of decentralization or centralization. It’s one of incentives and convenience. A demand for convenience has shifted incentives for products to be subscription based.

It’s subscription fatigue, essentially 

Then: i.e. DVDs in a world where ownership was cumbersome, streaming was a great innovation that made sense

Now: in a world where I have to pay for rent for everything- it’d be nice to own the digital land I plow on once again.
