I think it’s both, both farcaster founders are ex-coinbase, the ecosystem is very ‘base’ heavy and then on top of that it’s not doing favours for general crypto rep, it’s just not a good look in general unfortunately

makes total sense, thanks for sharing and being honest (as always). still optimistic some day we can get more scientists and creatives here if we lean into our decentralized values and uplift those communities, but recognize the very uphill battle and crypto PR problem we have to tackle.

i'm in agreement with ted here - crypto PR problem is one thing (defocus on fc being crypto really - just a much cooler place to be than on say x?), but until today never realised how people may view it being coinbase heavy (incl. base). btw, if too based (not that theres anything wrong with that), it may be harder to onboard say the solana folk, and so on (just visit primal to see where i'm coming from - 100% btc)

I just mean that to bury the machine that crypto supports - and I have learned that this platform has its own chain (?) but it supports Coinbase via fees (?) - isn’t how I like seeing decisions being made. It’s not transparent. And enabling, especially when there was a fairly vocal reaction to the decision here

Na they don't have their own chain I think it's like they on eth rolling with base but got now their own chain like protocol with snapchain but dunno tbh as I said high as a kite
