on L1, it costs $10s to $100s to create onchain art on @base.base.eth, it costs $0.01-$0.10 and will only get cheaper the number, quality, and impact of onchain creatives will grow exponentially — the last few weeks of creativity are just the tip of the iceberg

@diid can you explain how statements like this do a disservice to truely on chain art

The term "onchain" in Jesse's tweet feels at worst intentionally misleading and at best avoidant of the long history of what we've considered on-chain art. Since long before Base, an artwork was only considered "on-chain" if it was stored fully on the blockchain with no dependencies. We use the term "minted" otherwise

Perhaps an open dialogue should be opened up between jesse, base and the on chain art community on how we can ideate on how to rebrand the term on chain for either sides

@diid agreed with you. Random question I was talking to greyblock about, but is there a way to do "on-chain" on base? And by onchain I mean the definition we agree on, curious.

Efficax beta in my linktree works on Base! Always a big debate whether it's worth it but IMO there's still value in tying together provenance, artwork, and metadata in one place.
