there’s no real evidence to support this

when America had less more wealth equality we had just as much extreme populist rage - it’s always existed 

and there are countries with growing or extreme wealth inequality but without growing or existing extreme populist rage

Then why isn’t there a revolution in America?

When other people get richer, it does make you relatively poorer, because it increases the amount that sellers can charge for products (especially for vital stuff like housing).

Additionally, it impacts mental health and social bonds. Extreme inequality is a direct threat to democracy.

we can all get richer in real terms while the billionaires get even richer in real terms

If there isn’t an impact to demand or supply of a product, price wise nothing changes

Whose life changes when a billionaire gets richer, other than the billionaire?

So the gap and distribution of wealth as a % doesn’t matter as much as total change in individual real wealth

If the billionaire is 10% richer and I’m 5% richer I’m happy despite the gap increasing

The only people who aren’t happy in this situation are jealous by nature people and stupid people
