Anyone know of good comparison of the pros and cons of UBI as a solution to job automation, as opposed to sovereign wealth funds? I keep hearing very smart people only talk about UBI.

Sovereign wealth funds invest in business and public projects which (given the assumption of automation) wouldn’t resolve the core issue of “people are out of work and still need money” since ostensibly the new projects will also require lower labor costs as a result of said automation

Maybe combining both is ideal. In general I feel like making all humans shareholders in a global index fund is a better model for maintaining human agency, but I guess there is no obvious answer.

yea there’s like a dual problem of minimizing harm (enough food + water + safety) and facilitating agency/purpose personally i don’t really think the government should be in the agency business (beyond the responsibility of meaningful participation in civic life) but they should very much handle the first one bc it’s the basic social contract between citizens and government
