A look at the service robot market in Japan. https://archive.is/3OBQh I’m glad they are leading the way here with their practical yet whimsical solves for the problems of Too Many Old People The best thing most Americans can think to do is make impractical 1-1 copies of humans that might work but might also be controlled by remote 3rd world armies. It’s so hard to tell what’s real; you can’t trust a word that comes out of an American founder’s mouth given the financial benefits of hype and a good narrative

I legitimately think it's a mistake to invest so much in humanoid robots considering the complexity of the human body (ankles, wrists, weight distribution, etc)... but I can definitely get on board with adapting the environment to accommodate these little wheeled cutie boop boop beeps.

The two companies I know working on them (Figure and Elon) — both of their offerings seem to be all style, no substance. To your point there’s so much complexity! To go humanoid to me is not a solutions oriented approach — it’s a way to look cool and sci fi for the mouth frothers on social media
