A friend (who runs a yakitori spot) tipped me off to where the hard-core Japanese chefs eat after hours in NYC.

I finally went. Legit Japanese comfort food. Fun vibe. Open late (2:30am last call), so @zinger can fuel up before the night gets interesting.

I *do* think you will like it. The vibe and decor is more chill than traditional Japanese (I know you (especially) know what I mean). But, the food is *definitely* traditional Japanese comfort food.

Woah? Seriously?! I can kinda understand that. And, man, I am going to try to sample that whole menu. Even that coffee jelly for dessert was nuts. Flavor reminded me of the cold coffee cans I used to get at the Tokyo vending machines.

to be fair this was after an entire day of drinking but it was just perfectly done, not trying to be more than it is, the vibe in there was chill. i'll have to try the dessert next time!
