it's a real shame how quickly channels ux has been allowed to rot, even without explicit deprecation 

I miss the heyday of Farcaster channels.

Can't really blame anyone for not putting in the effort to keep channels lively when the future of channels remains in limbo, as it's a lot of work to do channels well. 

But it's sad to see them deteriorate.

On the bright side, some people seem quite determined to keep their channels alive in spite of it all. (Shoutout to the /slowcore-hq members).

I'm grateful for the work Cura is doing. But channels are in a weird limbo state, so it seems kind of a chicken-or-egg thing. As a channel owner myself I'm hesitant to invest more of my time and attention into my channels because it's not even clear that channels in general are going to survive.

At the same time I see a lot of value in channels, and with the right tools I think many of us *could* build channels that would help grow the overall user base, IF our work were supported and allowed to compound over time. 

Feels like channels had such a short window of time to prove themselves that we didn't even get to see much of what would be possible.

Cura is trying their best but it’s rough in channel land.

That's how I see it too -- a long-term investment in communities. 

There are lots of people on the purple app that I know to be very responsible channel stewards. @mxjxn, @aviationdoctor.eth, and @pichi come to mind as just a few examples, but there are many more. I'd love to see them all have what they need to build thriving channels.
