The amount of statistics and data that baseball fans and analysts pour through is really incredible It seems like baseball is the most data-driven sport but all sports have become more and more data-driven in modern times

100% I think it’s bc each player is “on an island” in so many ways At their position, on the mound, at the plate This interchangeability means that things like chemistry and scheme (so insanely important in football basketball etc) can be controlled for This plus 163 games and so many pitches seen — robust

Yeah lots of relatively independent individual actions within the team sport overall baseball does seem to contain a lot of individual games within the game
