100% I think it’s bc each player is “on an island” in so many ways At their position, on the mound, at the plate This interchangeability means that things like chemistry and scheme (so insanely important in football basketball etc) can be controlled for This plus 163 games and so many pitches seen — robust

Basketball is also out of control. Brian Scalabrine is the first player since Jesus, Wilt and Jordan on a per minute ratio to have at least 50% FG %, 5+ Rebounds, 1.5 Steals and 2 Blocks. I mean it's all useless.

underrated part of all this data is that it's publicly shared via mlb. not sure if a lot of professional sports orgs share this much data and on a site that's relatively easy to use.
