I've never really been a podcast person bc how does someone find the time to listen to that many hour long podcasts or more? 30-60 sec clips are the end state of video content consumption as proven by tiktok, reels, clipping culture, etc Subconsciously when someone says they listen to a lot of podcasts, I think that person must have a lot of free time and/or doesn't understand how to get that information more efficiently

For me, it's either short form content or long form content Most stuff in the middle should really be on one end of the spectrum or the other but like most things, there are exceptions I've over-indexed on shorter form content for years while I'd actually like to be spending more time with longer form content but it's hard to find the time in modern life with everything competing for your attention constantly

Totally depends on lifestyle & situation. For me, I work 80-90 hour work weeks all summer, about half of that is with the crew, and the other half solo. Podcasts are a nice way to keep up to speed on a variety of topics while I’m working. And because of the hectic nature of summer season, I don’t read much or consume much that requires multiple engagement points. Yet I also went a good 15 years without listening to podcasts, cause during early years I needed the head space to focus on the farm.

I listen with intention… to gear up for some potential deal making, I read (and just finished) a vc book and was listening to a few podcasts on start ups as well. I found myself listening to like 10 different seasons over the last year from the moment I’d wake up till I slept. While I moved across country and when traveling. It basically replaced all tv, social, streaming, gaming, and content ingestion. And those things became smol breaks amongst listening to the podcast. Now I’m back to my regular content habits.

There is something about famous podcasters you need to know. They talk about things at times and leave you in suspense or glued so that you’ll have to come back and watch the next part. I’m not a podcast person too but I tend to continue if it’s catchy and if I’m really curious to know how it all unfolds.
