Caster Rewards update

Starting this week — June 3rd to June 10th

1. Increased the recipient pool by 18% from 2,530 to 3,000

2. Increased the prize pool by 45% from $20,000 to $29,010 

3. Changes to tiers — top tier is now $600, new middle tier between $125 and $30

Rewards Algo Update

We're also updating the rewards algo this week

We're no longer going to count deleted casts, reactions, recasts or replies. This means in some cases, people will see scores go down mid-week.

We're also making a few other tweaks. Change will roll out later today. 

The algo is never going to be perfect, but the goal is to reward high signal top-level content on the network—from anyone!

So only top-level casts will count now?

Didn't realize that replies were being counted before but I think good replies are good content that's worth rewarding since it brings conversational liquidity to the network which is something that i'd think you'd want to nurture and encourage

That has always been the case.

If you incentivize replies, you get massive amount of reply farming. We've already run this experiment multiple times. :)

What has always been the case?  That only top-level casts will count?

Inbound replies count as engagement.

1. I cast something.
2. I get 5 replies, 10 likes and 1 recast.
3. All of that counts as engagement.

What we are not counting is if you reply to a cast and get engagement on that reply.

Ok I think I follow but then I'm confused about this below which implies that replies did count in the past?

See point about incentivizing replies. It doesn't work. Too much low signal stuff relative to the high signal.
