is multiculturalism good/bad for a society?

It’s a good thing but it needs a uniting element ideally 

Otherwise, it’s easy for people to live alongside each other but not really integrate or interact

Community activities/rituals

Could be education, government, entertainment, public goods, etc

Could also be national pride, civic pride or community pride in a broad sense

Need something that people can easily find common ground or interact via shared interests or societal activities

Idk if it inherently clashes with these ideas but it definitely can at times

I generally think it’s been a good thing despite some challenges it presents

not asking what is an ideal multicultural society, asking if in reality on the ground it has been a good thing or not
