It is time for me to dive deeper into React Hooks and React Query. I've experienced them at the surface level and I'm not a fan so far but I can't really judge them fully (and use them effectively) until I understand them deeply. Hence what I'm listening to next: https://pca.st/episode/7a0dc229-d859-462b-9599-6c185b2db888

true enlightenment is realizing that react pre-16.8 was perfect and humanity should have never left it

Was that pre hooks? I hadn't really used react (except for playing around with it a bit) until a few months ago so I missed all that.

yeah, was a controversial release at the time, then they started layering on things that made folks who took the time to internalize react's state diagram feel like the panacea that was react (in avoiding constantly changing js hell) turn into what felt like the same disease. i've since grown to appreciate hooks, but they really should have taken the bitter pill of making it a full new fork of a library that removed the old instead of the hybrid things were for a while https://legacy.reactjs.org/blog/2019/02/06/react-v16.8.0.html
