cheaper housing would help solve a lot of problems: - more people would start families (more babies instead of cats/dogs) - less loneliness - improved mental/physical health - reduce homelessness etc etc all of these problems seem to be getting worse and they are all downstream of housing being expensive (even the case for really smart software engineers). not saying this is the only thing but definitely seems like a good one to focus on.

Just don't make it artificially cheaper. Let the market build and compete in price. Moving away from centralized hubs for high earners (NYC, SF, LA, Seattle) could help too since that just pushes prices up in those places and displaces other people.

yup agreed, think the biggest blocker is just not being allowed to build new housing in a lot of places they can come to market at the current price and over time the price should go down if a lot of new ones are being built to meet demand +1 to moving away from the current hubs
