The produce at normal (fka middle class) grocery stores goes bad much faster now

Bought a box of organic strawberries yesterday, and a few were already covered with mold this morning

Rarely happens with produce from upper class stores (eg. Whole Foods). Yet another way the growing class disparity is felt (but hidden)

does the freshness of the fruits correlate with quality though? what if the middle class grocery stores actually have fruits that contain much less preservatives agents, thus mold faster

I suspect it’s different here in the states where the normal folks aren’t as connected to farmers 

But I think your point stands, which is: the only way to assure quality is to be as close to the soil as possible (grow your own or know your farmer)

it's anecdotal, at least that's what i see unfolding here in jakarta, high-end grocery stores sell mostly imported organic produce, local organic ones are priced slightly lower, but they don't sell produce from local traditional farms that are known not to use synthetic insecticides, and that's where middle class grocery stores excel, people in the know get those produce because there's still soil dirts on them, they also look for worm eaten holes on leafy greens, a proof that no insecticides or minimum amount of insecticides were used.

I usually buy organic produce, so I assume freshness is correlated with nutrition 

Terrifying if that’s not the case. Any reason to suspect that it might be due to preservatives?
