In order to make good on their concerns, we have altered our release process to use a dedicated CDN, which our autoupgrade script has now been changed to use.

yeah, was pretty lame, and we suspect there are other details, which we pushed them to retain in case of discovery if they chose not to restore. They restored. 🙂
