physical commons (pastures, fisheries, forests) can be enclosed by physical force digital commons (software, networks) & their resources (media artifacts) are harder to physically enclose hwvr, a tradeoff: their gov/production can be acted on at a distance by external interests

i think digital commons have their own friction that is similar to physical enclosures IRL

any mechanism that defines who and through what avenue can access the digital commons, for software i think it would be your terminal, for media artifacts it would be the file type (.jpg vs .mp3) but it depends on how you define to physically enclose: is it to restrict, to have friction, or to demarcate specific commons? also how are you defining media artifacts?
