tell me you don't know how to run an infra without telling me that you don't know how to run an infra these people also pay vercel to run a website that could as well be spa served by cloudflare cdn for free forever (and hosted by github pages) if your devs/cto overpays for cloud infra, you better change your devs/cto

coincidentally, these are the same ctos/devs that pay for all the UNNECESSARY bells and whistles provided by aws/gcp/azure, for instance, authentication layers, scaling solutions, etc, locking them with one single vendor forever also, every single infra layer that vendor-locks you also increases your api latency

you're right. i have NO CLUE how to run infra efficiently! i spend a ton on cloud managed services. because...i have no devs or cto, and I care more about figuring out how to deliver a good experience to my users, who pay me many multiples of the cost of my infra, than intellectually masturbating over running infra more cheaply. it doesn't matter if i cut my infra costs by 90% if no one is paying for my product.

@buoy indexer runs on a single 2 arm instance - hyperefficient I think vercel as a frontend makes sense it is faster to deploy then worrying about dns, ssl certs every year, etcโ€ฆ I have infra expertise so easy for me but not everyone does

this is an order of operations thing if you're building a new product from scratch, the fastest way to ship is to pay for tools like vercel, neon, etc. why spend time optimizing prematurely for costs before you even have an app or users? costs are something you can manage later once your app has scaled, otherwise you're just wasting your time on tech problems, not customer problems
