Dinner tonight is the ā€œpenicillin soupā€ I have seen Italian nonnas making on YouTube. It’s supposed be good for when you’re feeling sick, which I am. Carrots, onions, celery, garlic, chicken broth, pastina (I used these cute little stelline), butter, parmesan, salt, pepper. Parsley sprig from my herb garden.

Pastina for when you are sick is usually plain, a little butter and parmesan cheese. This is when Granny wants to spoil you, and before you finish it she asks if you want more. šŸ˜„šŸ˜‹

Yum, will have to try it like that too. Carrots made it a bit too sweet for me. Still delicious, but wouldn't be great for sensitive stomachs. What I'm learning is I really want a nonna in my life.

Here in Italy, grandmothers are a national heritage. We protect them and their ancient recipes as if they were saints. At most if you cannot have a nonna today you can learn to be a very good nonna in the very distant future šŸ˜„

I love that. New aspiration in my old age is to live and cook like a nonna.

Time to onboard some nonnas to Farcaster so I can study from the best.
