I havenโ€™t had to implement gifs in infinite scroll views so idk what issues come from that but it feels like something that should be pretty strained these days. Clearly not, though, so Iโ€™m curious if yโ€™all have shared more technical details r.e. why the issue occurs?

I guess you guys would also like it to be back someday in the future, right? I feel like sometimes people forget that itโ€™s not because you guys removed it, that it means you didnโ€™t like it. It was a sad, but necessary move. And Iโ€™m sure that you guys will find a way to bring it back in the future, in a way that itโ€™s more sustainable and I guess it will have to consider filtering out lower end device models, one way or another.

have always felt like discord handles these well - they only animate when the user is focused on them (mouseover)

Might be the culprit. After being gone everything goes really smooth and doesnโ€™t crash. I know it might had been a tough decision. But usability matters. Thanks

Never had mine crash but halt at times, especially in the notifs. But great to see this is a fix to most of crashes.
