Nice, getting into those now.  Prelude to Foundation was good, solid world building for life on Trantor but I wasn’t expecting Foundation to be so different than the series.

Foundation / Foundation and Empire / Second Foundation are canon

Im listening to the audiobooks, very different so far.  I’m going in chronological order on the 3rd one (Foundation) now

I’d be curious to hear more about why. I re-read the first before the show released and couldn’t move on. Found them tedious and overwrought. Could be a style issue, but my personal conclusion was they were insufferable. 

I’m terrified to re-read the robot stories.

Counterpoint: Foundation was never as good as we thought it was.

Apple TV only had one great show - Slow Horses.

They did.

But their series are really good. Slow Horses (especially S1) is epic, imho. Loved Silo too (but I haven't read the books).

I stopped watching after the first season of Foundation. I don’t care what happened after that mess.

Point of clarification.  They didn’t ruin Foundation.  It’s just that the Apple-verse Foundation sucks compared to the Asimov-verse.

I don’t shun them for that but it was objectively bad. I fell asleep watching and that’s rare

Slow Horses is great. 

I’ve never read a book in my life, so Foundation is enjoyable non-sensical allegory about the Ethereum cinematic universe.

Damn I liked it - some of it was corny (and obvi not like the books) but the genetic dynasty was such a cool concept

I did the same thing when the James Bond franchise casted a non-canonical 007.
