GN Degens, small update: Our designer's killing it—v1 of the app has a clean, on-brand UI that already feels great to use. Even without standout features, it’s 🔥. - Frontend dev joins Tuesday. - Backend interviews ongoing. From /degen to full Farcaster client. Proud & building. 🛠️

since farcaster client should become open source, have you considered forking and building on top of it?

Nah, not really. My guess is the Farcaster client’s AWS bill is tens—maybe hundreds—of thousands a month. Open source or not, that kind of infra cost isn’t something most can just absorb. It’s like giving away the plans to a Ferrari—doesn’t mean you can afford to drive it.

that's not the point. infra is separate, but loads of useful patterns and ui elements are definitely gonna be there

Yeah for sure, there’ll be some useful patterns and UI stuff in there. But I don’t think the code will be that valuable for most folks. It’ll probably be super complex and costly to run or even wrap your head around solo. That said, if they do open it up well, we’d definitely use it as a reference.
