The beauty of vercel is being able to keep old infrequently used projects and endpoints online without a cost - looking around mine there's like 20 live deployments. 

We had this with heroku, but eventually most places shut down free tiers - serverless enables side projects with no revenue to survive

how do you feel about the direction they are going re: unifying the products?

Same with cloudflare workers and pages for me.

Exactly. And it confuses me when people bash it without highlighting its major advantages.

Yeah, I love vercel most especially with it free and easy to use interface. Not to talk of their fast customer replies.
