why’s the game called 2048 when you can go arbitrarily high?

The score can go above 2048 but the block itself is what you want to get to 2048, like the tile on the board

Tbh there is some thing easier about this version than the other version I played when I learned, but I can’t fig it out

Something about the math behind the game is my guess
