I feel like New York is the only place in the world where "luck" is a bad word. I've gotten a lot of lucky breaks in my life, and I take the time to cherish each one. It should go without saying that the best way to increase your chances of getting lucky is to take more shots and calculated risks whenever possible. There are always people out there who are smarter than you, and have taken more risks than you, but their luck just hasn't aligned with their determination. Find those people and help elevate them. When they have their breakthroughs it makes things better for everyone. If you think your success is purely because you're better than other people, you're going to miss out on a lot of incredible opportunities to make the world a better place. Luck is precious, don't squander it, or ignore it, or overlook it. Just accept it, be grateful, and keep building.

I came across this in a book I was reading to my kid this morning, and it reminded me of this whole "no such thing as luck" situation.
