ok @barmstrong recasting has me even sold on that line. i honestly have not gotten sizably lucky yet, but i’ve failed more than 36 times building products in the past decade. i’m willing to continue failing until something clicks one day. onwards.

I think one of my weaknesses (or strengths, depending on who you ask) is refusal to accept failure until all options are exhausted. So there’s been cases where I should’ve just failed fast and moved on. But others where success was snatched from the jaws of defeat due to just being pig-headed enough to keep going on one idea. One thing that’s been a constant throughout though is yeah, the “you got lucky” bullshit that goes along with it. I mean yeah, luck is always some element of it. But buying the lottery tickets in these particular cases, they’re pretty expensive 💀

I feel like New York is the only place in the world where "luck" is a bad word. I've gotten a lot of lucky breaks in my life, and I take the time to cherish each one. It should go without saying that the best way to increase your chances of getting lucky is to take more shots and calculated risks whenever possible. There are always people out there who are smarter than you, and have taken more risks than you, but their luck just hasn't aligned with their determination. Find those people and help elevate them. When they have their breakthroughs it makes things better for everyone. If you think your success is purely because you're better than other people, you're going to miss out on a lot of incredible opportunities to make the world a better place. Luck is precious, don't squander it, or ignore it, or overlook it. Just accept it, be grateful, and keep building.

36 failures mean 36 lessons; surely one day it will click. The fact that you keep going after all this is truly admirable

You should publish a list of all the failed experiments and I’ll do it too
