Finally got around to booting up my new Mac Mini.

First thing I did was figure out how to install Nix, nix-darwin and pkgs.code-cursor from nixpkgs.

Now I have my Nix Flake file opened up in Cursor and I’m asking Claude how to set up all the apps and build tools and IDEs I need so I never have to manually download anything ever again.

Homebrew is impressive and served me well, but I’m kind of awestruck by the sheer amount of software nixpkgs covers.

I had a few months where I used Nix as my package manager, but eventually I just ran into so many weird bugs and issues that I decided to go back to Homebrew. Was likely a skill issue and will probably find my way back over there one day 🥲 Feel like Nix mastery is like the Linux final boss, way more than Arch
