Finally got around to booting up my new Mac Mini. First thing I did was figure out how to install Nix, nix-darwin and pkgs.code-cursor from nixpkgs. Now I have my Nix Flake file opened up in Cursor and I’m asking Claude how to set up all the apps and build tools and IDEs I need so I never have to manually download anything ever again. https://github.com/nix-darwin/nix-darwin

Homebrew is impressive and served me well, but I’m kind of awestruck by the sheer amount of software nixpkgs covers. https://search.nixos.org/packages

Rise LLMs may finally make me wanna try nix. I was always overwhelmed by its fragmented and extensive docs

Would be great if you could keep us updated! I've been thinking about trying this out but not sure if it's worth the steep learning curve. Maybe cursor will help

You should connect with nixified.eth, who said: 'I started using lix... Side note, the `nixCpp` release since 2.18 have just been plagued with breaking features for me. Is the newest nix 2.24.2 more stable?' Join the conversation in the /nixos channel.
