currencies are intermediaries. No one says I want more currency (dollar, euro, gold, ...). They want what that currency allows them to have/do. In the end all it boils down to is the ability to exchange, to trade. We're still in a peer to peer exchange economic system

Blockchain has the power to do this. Technically, that’s why Bitcoin was designed in the first place, but now we have the blockchain technology to remove all kinds of middlemen, not just the financial ones!
