So I’m starting to see the dark side of the quote cast meta. Quote casts are powerful ways to get the attention of the OG caster, but only when used to add to the conversation and try to get more eyes on it. 

When it’s used to ask a question to the original caster instead of replying to them and asking directly, it feels gross and I don’t like it. What is the point of this? It feels like shallow engagement bait rather than adding to the conversation. I hope this is not the new trend. Most will ignore it.

Would say on general that if the focus is the original caster I would say: reply.
If your focus is the rest of the world: quote cast.
But, message and focus should be in line.

Long answer to say agree with the nuance for mainly rhetorical questions.
