This is Mark Rutte at his best. He has been the Prime Minister in the Netherlands for years and there the same behaviour, and if you distance yourself from him or go against him, he hugs you even harder. Btw, he and Israel seem to understand very well that Trump's ego needs to be stroked with superlatives to get something done with him.

There is no one better at getting the most diverse types of people on board and working together. By the way, don't think that this text message was meant to be shared publicly, but negative things never stick to him.

In the Dutch press: "It wasn't planned, but there's nothing crazy in it. I have no problem with it at all," says NATO chief Rutte about the personal message to Donald Trump that the American president shared on social media this afternoon. "Europe is going to pay in a BIG way, as they should, and it will be your success!", Rutte's message to Trump read. When asked if it was an embarrassing display by Rutte, he said, visibly unimpressed: "Yes, you know, that's taste, but that's how I work." Rutte says that he has not talked to Trump about permission to share the message, "but I have no objection to it".

I'm not too familiar with him a politician. I do know a few of the changes he's made in Holland that I don't agree with but I haven't been there in 20+ years and don't know the political environment.
