CRUNNELLA
@crunnella
I consulted a vet today aka ChatGPT and confirmed that Cannelle is going through a pseudopregnancy (false pregnancy). The symptoms of swollen teats, nesting behavior, clinginess, and lethargy show up 4-8 weeks post-estrus (after her heat). Since her heat ended at the end of March-ish, her false pregnancy is right on time. She usually sleeps in her crate (by choice) but recently she’s always on the bed with me. Normally her spot would be at the bottom of the bed, but she has inched her way closer to me to be as close to me as possible and now we are sharing a pillow… Usually I enforce boundaries, but I can’t say no to her! Too precious! I feel bad she’s not feeling great. She feels funny and needs extra comfort rn, but at least we’re getting her spayed asap so she won’t have to deal with all these hormonal sufferings anymore. That’s thanks to this community and the contributors of the crowdfund we held. Thank you again and of course we will keep you updated. 🙏

Hope she makes it through ok! Our poodle had a false pregnancy and one of her nipples got clogged so we had to milk her to keep it from getting infected 😩 we wanted to wait on spaying her so she could keep her natural hormones but we finally did it after the false pregnancy

Natural hormones in dogs make them difficult to have as pets living in a ‘civilized society’😭 not to mention the health problems they open the door to. Glad you were able to get her spayed!

Overall spaying is better, but for bigger dogs breeds the hormones are beneficial for their joint health so that’s why we waited. We kept her inside whenever she was in heat so it was manageable. My two little ones were spayed and neutered immediately because they are litter mates
