People underestimate how hard it is to make good dance music.

It has more constraints than any other genre. There is extremely little room to be innovative while still appealing to a large audience.

Is there a song that breaks the rules but still works?

Oh interesting! I remember liking the triplet meter in Latch. So no 7/8 tracks then…😄

There are many that bend the rules but anything extreme basically guarantees the audience will be limited.

Like the most you can get away with meter is to use a triplet pattern (ex: Disclosure - Latch)
