Uncomfortable truth: The reality is consumer crypto apps have largely failed unless they are: 1) Speculative / trading / perps / trading tools 2) New asset issuance (pump, polymarket, etc) What apps have crossed the crypto chasm that aren't in the above categories? could say the same about most of infra crypto, L1s but those seem to continue finding funding regardless 🤷

Both are same bucket IMO, and in general they aren't creating new assets, but rather new speculative "venues", in most cases markets IMO this is natural. Crypto natives (the user base) are so few that only high-margin things make enough money to sustain the apps I can't think of anyone who has crossed the chasm

Unfortunately, I would tend to agree that we're stuck in this rut for the time being. We're starting to do some work with stables and that seems to be growing openness and acceptance really quickly - the benefits are simple and can be meaningful at scale.

Is defi in bucket 1? I don’t consider IT speculative … I thought rodeo was onto something. But had too many hiccups lock outs. Games to nowhere. I don’t think it’s a function of the apps per se. But the current consumers. Who by far. Are looking to max extract. Not… consume. I enjoy tipn and noice. Though those are prob bucket 1 And I think qr has A LOT of potential. Not sure what else is out there. I e mostly entrenched into farcaster.

Which other Apps do you care outside the top 10? I bet there are none, 1,2 that are Short-term hyped and maybe 1,2 nichy, productive or games. So, there‘s plenty of competition to win users over - even temporarily - when you‘re not a dominant social media, Messenger App.
