The surgeon general issued an advisory on parentsโ mental health. Parenting is now in the same category as cigarettes regarding public health risks. The cause? โthe expectation that they spend ever more time and money educating and enriching their children. These pressures, researchers say, are driven in part by fears about the modern-day economy โ that if parents donโt equip their children with every possible advantage, their children could fail to achieve a secure, middle-class life.โ @coachcoale and I happened to be talking about this just today on a zoom As a parent of teenagers Iโm playing a different game than most of my peers. While they hire tutors and focus all their energy on getting into the best college, Iโm focused on building independence, resilience, and a love of learning. Itโs less stressful this way.
