Two things that are criminally understated in product building are onboarding and notifications. It’s a slog and been one of the hardest lifts we’ve done (so far lmao). If users have too many screens to go through: they quit. If users get too many notifs: the mute you, you’re done.

If you have good discovery and recommendations, you don’t need notifications. The product sells itself. We had virtually zero notifications during my first couple years at Spotify.
