The problem with the Warpcast Power Badge is that many spammers have it. Here's a list of the top 100 casts with the most recasts in the last 24 hours, made by users with the Power Badge data.hubs.neynar.com/public/dashboards/b1FfpKPs0IPEVvsopekEgCrlJK7a8CqARAeMRSvC To create a clean list, I had to manually filter out 145 FIDs that are spamming but still have the Power Badge. You can find the list of these accounts here docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1SMqs9VqucNo93k9doDJZMBtUwp4OjuzdwLjBo22MnNA If I can identify these accounts with a reasonable amount of effort, then so can the Warpcast team. As it stands, the Power Badge is not very useful. Don’t just take my word for it, analyze the data via @neynar

its interesting because while it comes across my feed once in a while, compared to their output almst no one here is even familiar to me except maybe 2 casters so... maybe algo is working? i dunno, i thought villain arc was over but maybe not. maybe we just multiverse forked and im living in la la land

You’re not wrong, but I still see them all over my feeds and in channels. The biggest issue though is at the protocol level. We want devs to use the power badge to bootstrap off of but then you find out that the spammers have it

bearish on devs using power badge - bullish on merkle using it to incentivize better behavior. So they'll keep tweaking, but my guess is the full graph filtered down by specific use case is the future i.e. the way @ponder is using rep

The burden is on devs to figure out their own filtering systems. So here we are: we have an open graph, but it’s very useless if you can’t work magic to figure out who the real users are

we launched a company yesterday that focuses on better discovery for this exact reason. there will never be a perfect solution, but most of the issues related to spam/fraud/bots are pretty much solved in Web 2.0 and shouldn’t be too hard to implement in open social soon.

if devs can build a Farcaster client from scratch, then they can build their own mechanisms to reduce the reach of any account
