Why does, almost every linux distro/desktop ship with Firefox as the default browser instead of Brave of Chromium? Is its Firefox's long term commitment to open source or is there some funding available for projects that do?

I think it's a lot because of inertia and traditional commitment of Mozilla to open source. Tbh, I do prefer Firefox to Chromium and especially to Brave. Brave is controversial, too: not everyone is fine with relations with crypto

๐Ÿ˜„ I wouldn't be surprised if their was like a grants program for distros (kinda like what the Superchain got going) But I have observed a strict preference for open source drivers (& apps too) because I keep having to set up CUDA and Nvidia-utils every time I switch distros. You could still get any proprietary software / drivers you like on your linux, but I guess the whole point of Linux was to not use proprietary stuff. Like it ๐Ÿ‘ Would ๐Ÿ’ฏ recommend
