"Community-aligned, simple to use, and rewards the right behaviors" I thought farcaster was striving towards this also? I guess what I don't understand is: - why build something so similar to farcaster? - why splinter the community into smaller pieces? I understand tipping is not sustainable, but idk how we got HERE.

curious if you think there is a 'tipping token' model that can actually sustain itself on here? cuz so far it is a complete graveyard. any tipping token is always beholden to whatever the app itself (farcaster) wants to do, it's like launching an app on Facebook or whatever in the early days. build your own app, you control your own destiny. Degen has the funds to execute so why not? there is a funnel of many other users from outside here who *may find it interesting, so it could be a net new funnel of users. *will depend on many factors, design, execution, marketing, etc.

The problem with tipping tokens is that they all get farmed to hell. If you try to get ahead of it, the process is too complicated. If it's too complicated, no one opts in. I think degen did super well in establishing a presence with tipping degen under every cast. Idk how well a stand alone app does. This entire testing ecosystem is so small. We need to keep people in 1 spot to work out the kinks.

yep I agree with you, and I think that line of thinking is what Degen has gone through, only to see there was no visible path to making it work on here long-term. so I think it is a bit of a shot in the dark, very high risk, but I kind of like it, I think it puts Degen on its proper footing, which is pushing the boundaries in the space and being somewhat polarizing, rather than an almost sure death by 1000 cuts due to the flaws in the incentive systems with a 'tipping-only' token. I honestly don't see it that much differently to what deployer did with Bankr, he just did it in a more strategic/nuanced way.
