picking the channel
and only being able to pick one 
prior to casting is 
profoundly disturbing 
and anxiety inducing 

i had your exact same 
impression of what it meant 
to pick a channel: 
namely, that when you cast to 
a channel the people
who follow that channel
receive your cast 

this is a misunderstanding 
that’s soooo widespread 
yet currently 
we the users
are blamed
for misunderstanding 
how channels work 

when that’s EXACTLY 
how traditional 
channels initiatively work 
it’s like a distribution list
so if 2mm are watching a 
tv or radio channel (e.g. NBC) 
2mm get the message 
sent over that channel (e.g. NBC)

all around i see users
being corrected 
NOPE YOU ARE WRONG 
channels have NOTHING 
TO DO WITH DISTRIBUTION
(multiple times in the
replies here alone)

and i still don’t fully
understand what channels
are if it’s not to cast to 
a channel that people
are tuned into 

channel is  
a supremely confusing name 
for what seems like a totally

The default one 
that I have is D-gen. 

I seem to not be 
able to change it. 

And then I don't know 
what it does when you add a channel, but channels have nothing to do with distribution. 

This is a very confusing aspect of the product that I've mentioned repeatedly to @dwr.eth 

but i feel like we 
who are confused 
by channels are 
outnumbered by 
those who understand 
the channel-nalogy
