Pump.fun let anyone launch memecoins. Their ICO was crazy fast—$600M raised in just 12 minutes. They sold 15% of tokens at $0.0040 each. One of the quickest fundraisers ever.

Brushing up on my Schelling: “A public beach in the summertime is in equilibrium when it is so crowded that it is no longer attractive to anyone who might have wanted to go to the beach, but not quite so unattractive that the people who are already there give up and go home.” 🥲

This is a huge accomplishment for the U.S. but something that embarrasses me as a New Yorker is that this is not the case in a lot of the low-income housing in the nation's largest city. Back in 2020, I wrote a story about how Mayor Michael Bloomberg blocked legislation that would have forced landlords to inspect and fix lead paint, and deprioritized the issue in NYCHA apartments. https://www.motherjones.com/environment/2019/12/michael-bloomberg-has-a-toxic-legacy-on-lead/

“flanderization is a trope involving exaggerating a single trait of a character to the point where it completely consumes the character.” im starting to see this in social media too!! i feel like algorithms can end up dampening people’s personalities or reducing people to one thing a tiktoker ends up doing their signature dance in every single video cos thats what will get them likes or an X account will rage bait about one topic as that’s what gets them engagement and $$$ many creators can end up becoming a caricature of themselves as they are mainly existing online to feed the algorithm kinda like “niching” down to the point where the person is lost completely i have been SO guilty of this as i am a people pleaser who is trying to stop being a people pleaser haha now i am trying to post in a way which reflects more elements of my personality and interests not just the ones i assume people/ algo will find interesting so bare with me as i try to show up more as “me”

If I had F You $, I would design and build the ultimate mini golf complex… at least 96 holes, including one which makes no economic sense - all par 4s & 5s… designed with plenty of shade, a watering hole at every turn for the back 9, and then hire good folks to run it. Grew up with an uncle about an hour outside of Wisconsin Dells, and we would spend a day there most summers, including a round or two of mini golf. Kids were lobbying for a day trip to the cape for mini golf while we were enjoying a local round yesterday, hope to add it to the summer calendar.

Musk tweeted that "the voice of the people is the voice of god," after a poll showed 80% support for a new political party. He then pinned the post. Earlier, he asked if the US should form a party representing the 80% middle class.
