This is a huge accomplishment for the U.S. but something that embarrasses me as a New Yorker is that this is not the case in a lot of the low-income housing in the nation's largest city. Back in 2020, I wrote a story about how Mayor Michael Bloomberg blocked legislation that would have forced landlords to inspect and fix lead paint, and deprioritized the issue in NYCHA apartments. https://www.motherjones.com/environment/2019/12/michael-bloomberg-has-a-toxic-legacy-on-lead/
