The top 1% of users saying they'll definitely buy Pro gets a lot of visibility & traction on feeds by virtue of the users being popular accounts. But I wonder how prevalent this opinion actually is... 🤔

I'm still on the fence about getting Pro. What about you?

Any particular reason for that? 

Or simply that it's not adding anything to your experience that you want?

Few reasons: 
What we have is perfectly fine, if it wasn’t and you had to pay for a ‘good’ experience the app would collapse overnight.
Social media is not where individuals should be spending their money. 
I don’t want to be part of some dicky elite knobhead group behind a paywall… I’ll only do it if I’ve earnt my dickery 😂

So to explain myself a bit further: my uneasiness with Pro is that IMHO it's definitely going to be used to reward Pro badge holders in one way or another. I'm thinking INDIRECTLY, such as via access, airdrops from other projects, and things like that. Let's be honest with ourselves--this is definitely going to happen.

So FC protocol & app can wash their hands, draw a line, and say "oh, we're not giving Pro users special treatment" (which to be fair, they aren't directly), while others in the ecosystem do exactly that. FC knows this, and perhaps this is the desired consequence by specific design.

That's why I feel a bit split about supporting the concept, and would like to hear opinions on it.

I echo pretty much all of your points. I paid for X as a business expense (I'm self-employed in the crypto space), hoping to help engagement and networking, and so far it has been an absolute waste of cash. Maybe I don't use it enough... but that literally is proof that I didn't need it, then.

I think technically something like excluding users based on having Pro is a possibility, for sure! Especially for grassroots things.

It's a great point you make about how even with Pro, the users are still the same, as is the content. I think to their credit, they're not boosting scores/visibility/algos based on Pro, at least.

Perhaps that in the end, that's the best way to view it: the users are the same, with or without Pro. Visibility remains the same, as does their content (except for the ability one day to have 4 images, and longform casts).

Back to the topic in hand, there will be airdrops, people will earn money, they will look like the elite. They will still be the same person casting the same stuff… you can push people as much as you want, but it’s the content/vibe that gets the audience going.
A group could theoretically torment anyone that does have the badge by saying you’re a played shill and your word means nothing. It might turn on them, there’s too sides to every coin!🪙 

I’ve spoken to someone that does very well on X and can’t get a like to save her life on here because she does these long drawn out ‘woo woo’ descriptions that don’t land in FC space (and flaunts her beauty (more power to her)). Maybe that’s what we need to do to get X likes?
