That’s how most have been done in the past. But if the goal is to get users, the airdrop can also be that incentive. Retro works but also leads to big sell offs usually.

I look at it like cable packages They always give a new great deal to new users and screw over people who have used them in the past, and that leads to them being generally hated lmao

I think both ways can work. Look at Farcade or Farville - fun games, don’t need a token to play, potential future airdrop might reward users who contributed to success. Great! But something like Celo added to Farcaster, the airdrop actually provides the fuel to use the mini apps etc. otherwise it’s unlikely to get interaction since many people wouldn’t have the needed token to even use the thing. No one size fits all solution.
