The biggest problem with the Warpcast algorithm is that is “spam” means ANY reply with ZERO engagement (no like or reply back). This is very nuanced and difficult to navigate. It is too easy to be labeled as spammy and most users will need to change their behavior when you engage with people who don’t follow you. When you follow each other, the spam rules no longer apply because you are friends.

I can see some mistakes I make from what you just said again but what’s the best way to get an engagement out of a person that’s not engaging apart from baiting?

Most people should probably reply less when they are new to the platform and observe the cultural norms. Then make sure every reply is thoughtful, and not something you can search within the app or google. People should also read all the thread comments before they reply. If a question has already been asked the chance of it being answered again is small. 
It’s also best to not reply to every single cast someone makes. It comes off as engagement baiting.
