completely different cultures only create problems as nothing is normally designed for that people from one culture end up uniting in neighborhoods etc and it becomes a chinatown etc

that’s quite a naive belief I’m afraid, you should read around it a bit more. mostly not to do with preferences at all

more to do with exploitation, discrimination and legal barriers to economic and social mobility. in various countries areas of concentration were originally run by slumlords and traffickers

exploitation, legal barriers etc exist because government designed those things to exist or neglected to the point they emerge and grow

in the UK and US cases I’m familiar with there are cases for both but def less straightforward to generalise, depends how much you read between the lines

eg in the uk it wasn’t until the 70s where things like racial quotas, discriminatory renting etc were phased out certain politicians of the time were quite vocally racist and campaigned against those reforms so I’d say the motive was clear enough

there’s a uk think tank called the runnymede trust who published a bunch of research about it starting in the mid-70s

yeah it feels like very context dependent on the place, uk got a huge history with that already as they were the last global empire there are multicultural hubs like in dubai, singapore too and I don’t think there are many issues there

it may be also related to border control, uk was within eu and borders here are too weak letting anyone with money get anywhere within union and that’s a lot harder problem and consequences for govts and societies to deal with than multicultism itself if you move somewhere like that as a last resort and staying illegally this won’t help qnythibg
