There's a curious, partially submerged land bridge between India and Sri Lanka. It's called Adam's Bridge due to the Muslim tradition that the original human, Adam, crossed it after being cast out from the Garden of Eden into Sri Lanka (then called Sarandib by Arabic geographers — the same name later gave birth to the word "serendipity" in English because of an old Persian tale of a Serendip prince making discoveries by accident). It's also called Rama's Bridge because the ancient Sanskrit epic Ramayana mentions a bridge constructed by the god Rama and his monkey army to reach the island Lanka and rescue his wife Sita.

Wow, mind blown! I never would’ve thought this part of history was known beyond the Persians, not even the Arabs seem to talk about it. I had no clue about its geographical location either. Is this channel all about historical geography stuff like this? I think I need to get active here!

I was aware of the Sanskrit epic, but I didn't know about the muslim take on it. I heard it discussed once that it was indeed laid by humans though - any truth to this?
