yeah realistically speaking 500k a year it’s overtime and oversight over many people and teams, I’d not willingly opt in to manage all that and calls daily/weekly to keep it going

me neither of course the thing is, I would not be eligibile for such a job anyway; the OP on twitter probably just wanted to run a thought experiment but what jumps out to me is the false dichotomy, because while $500k is a difficult goal either way (salary / freelance), $50-$100k is very achievable, is enough to live on, and the skills and self-confidence you earn while doing so will set you up to really achieving your potential or just finding out what you want to do in life rather than being a footnote on a spreadsheet

yeah too many folks are just obsessed over having large sums of money, properties etc

depends on where you like ofc. 50k would not cut it stateside for a family paying out of pocket for health insurance, retirement, education fund, medicine. but yeah if you start early and build, that effort can translate into more.
