TBA is very well-built, but it mostly cannibalizes my existing FC usage — and some features like DCs, dev tools and channels require that I keep using FC So what use cases will TBA specialize in that net grows my usage? Or are existing FC users not the target audience? Trying to reason about how to use these 2 apps

my take: 1) target audience is not current farcaster user 2) (1) doesn't mean that it can't/won't cannibalize the current Warpcast users 3) social/farcaster is secondary. the goal is to get distribution for base assets and applications and social/farcaster is a means to that end. this might end up being very good for farcaster because now there's a force with a mission other than 'we just need farcaster to be big' behind it and push purposefully. 4) surprised that Warpcast is simultaneously leaning into the same game of transactions/wallets and not play a different game

similar experience. my current mental model: right now FC power users are testing out TBA as an alt client. but over time there should be a divergence in user persona of FC app and TBA? CB/TBA caters to existing/new wallet users (going from wallet -->social) FC app caters to social first users (going from social --> wallet)

Guessing: CB sees opportunity for 1M new addresses transacting on base and wallet as distro opportunity to get there Yes existing FC social graph gets eaten in the process but for CB that's just negative externality and for Merkle it's a necessary sacrifice on the way to PMF ~80% of people still here will adjust

understandable. I think that the focus in TBA is mini-app/integrations and casting. Sorta like FC Lite with a smartwallet behind it.

Android likes TBA exponentially more than I do. Did you do something specific to enjoy it

It's good, but much less polished than Farcaster. The UX is chaotic imho. They either don't have a UX expert or they didn't let them do their job, and pushed to "add this" and "add that" and "this must be on the Home Screen too". But I'm sure it will get better, it's too early. 1. Same take as the rest about target audience not being the same. 2. I hope TBA will add more functionality around assets, something that should be much easier for them, because they already have the infra. I could see TBA competing with Interface for example. 3. Farcaster will continue to be the client for devs for a very long time.

things I’ve noticed similar to @kia.eth more asset forward, and assets are associated with mini apps so as a result they’re more mini app forward. search an asset and the mini app also shows up (think this works for bracky). also the cast draft has an apps button for me right now so assume they may lean into it (but not 100% optimized for it just yet). they’ll have more distribution (from what i recall from onchain summer and metrics that were driven there). now makes it easier for any campaign to connect with users and deepen relationship (hard to do in old onchain summer model).

Honestly wondering the same thing. Using both seems like a non-starter as they use different wallets, and it doesn't look like it's an option to export/import. (my guess is FC chose Privy so they could go crosschain, while obviously TBA will be more Base oriented and their smart wallet is unlikely to travel as well). I like the idea of it being for a new audience, assuming Coinbase will be able to bring in more people. Sadly I'm very bearish on this. I feel their comms to be very in-group oriented and unlikely to attract a new audience. Hope I'm wrong!

Coinbase users will not use farcaster, but they may use the coinbase wallet. Its that simple.

@jesse.base.eth has repeatedly stated that his mission is to bring 1 billion people onchain. And I've seen him asking for good mini apps for new users. So there's your answer. And I think he's right. The most valuable thing for new users is probably the social graph + cast and comments + mini apps
